YANG di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah and Raja Permaisuri Agong Tunku Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah conveyed their condolences to the family of Sieh Kok Chi, who died last Saturday.
In a post on the Istana Negara Facebook today, the royal couple expressed their sadness on the death of the former Olympic Council of Malaysia (OCM) secretary-general, and hoped that his family members remain patient and and resolute in facing this moment of grief.
“Their Majesties highly appreciate the services and contributions of the deceased to the development and progress of sports in the country and described his death as a great loss to OCM and sports in the country.,
“Indeed, his spirit, great effort and sacrifice in shouldering the responsibilities and trust should be an inspiration to all Malaysians,” the post said.
Sieh, 83, was known by many as one of the individuals responsible for the prospering of the OCM, being there from its early years to the institution that stands strong today.
The recipient of the 2019/2020 Sports Personality Award had been offering voluntary services to OCM since 1974, and had served on various committees and task forces within the OCM before being elected as honorary secretary in 1992. – Bernama, July 20, 2022.
